Sohan Dasgupta - Accomplished Executive, Attorney, and Leader
Dr. Sohan Dasgupta is an attorney, government executive, and scholar whose career spans international trade, national security, economic policy, and complex litigation. He has represented clients before the U.S. Supreme Court, federal appellate and trial courts, administrative agencies, and Congress, and has argued cases before several U.S. Courts of Appeals.
Dr. Dasgupta has held senior leadership positions in the U.S. Government, including Assistant Secretary for Trade and Economic Security and Deputy General Counsel at the U.S. Department of Homeland Security. In these roles, he advised on matters involving international trade, export controls, economic sanctions, the Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States (CFIUS), Team Telecom, Information and Communications Technology and Services (ICTS), supply-chain security, and other national security priorities. He also served as Special Counsel at the U.S. Department of Education. In 2025, Dr. Dasgupta served as the political head of the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC), leading an organization of approximately 300 personnel and overseeing a budget of $5.8 billion.
Dr. Dasgupta holds a J.D. from the University of California, Berkeley, School of Law, where he was elected to the Order of the Coif; a Ph.D. from the University of Cambridge; an M.Sc. from the University of Oxford; and a B.A. from Columbia University. He began his legal career with clerkships at the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit and the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of West Virginia.
